Wine and Dine
Itinerary 7 nights/8 days
 
Day 1:ArrivalSofiaAirport. Meet & Greet at the airport by one of our professional and friendly guides. Dinner and Overnight stay in a first class hotel in Sofia.
Day 2: After breakfast, sightseeing of Sofia, then a mid- morning departure for the famous Rila Monastery – the largest and one of the most spectacular monasteries in Bulgaria. Lunch of the local specialty – fresh trout. Afternoon drive to Sandanski Spa for overnight stay in a first class hotel.

Day 3: Morning visit to the Damyanitsa Winery , producer of Melnik wine, and then to Rozhen`s picturesque monastery, noted for its magnificent woodcarving. Wine- tasting and lunch in a small inn near the monastery. A sightseeing   of the smallest inhabited town in Bulgaria – Melnik. Free time in Sandanski, when you may sample the spa facilities. Dinner and overnight in Sandanski.
In Damyanitsa Winery you can sample some of the delicious wines of the Melnik region: “ Melnik Muscat”- semidry white, “ Melnik – 13” – sweet red, “ Cabarnet Sauvignon” from Melnik – dry red and delicious Melnik red brandy.
 
Day 4: Morning drive though tobacco- growing areas   of Bansko, a small museum town nestled between three mountain ranges. BBQ lunch in Bansko, where the master chef will teach you to prepare the popular Bulgarian specialty- Shopska Salad and you can prepare your BBQ lunch all by your self. Cook and sample delicious Bulgarian dishes along with unlimited wine from oak barrels. Afternoon drive to Plovdiv, Bulgaria `s second largest city. Dinner and overnight in first class hotel in Plovdiv.

Day 5: Morning sightseeing and lunch in old Plovdiv. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner with traditional folklore entertainment. Overnight in Plovdiv.
Day 6: After breakfast visit to the old Bachkovo Monastery in the beautiful Rhodope Mountain, followed by a tour and wine tasting in the Assenovgrad Winery, the producer of Mavrud wines.
Assenovgrad wines are very popular in Bulgaria and abroad. Sample the famous “ Mavrud” dry red wine as well as Assenovgrad “ Cabernet” and “ Manstirsko shushukane”- red semidry wine.
Lunch in the town of Assenovgrad. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner in the OldTownPlovdiv where you will enjoy another lesson in cooking- preparing what is considered being the most popular Bulgarian dish – Kavarma. It is a stew – like main course whose ingredients are tender pork and lots of vegetables. The variety of spices and herbs make is one of the most succulent and delicious dishes you have ever tasted.

Day 7: Departure for the little town of Troyan for tasting the infamous Troyan brandies.
\Bulgarian brandies are very much like the Slivovitz or the German Shnaps. Troyan plum brandies are very popular and are steadily  gaining acknowledgment abroad. Sample Old Troyan Plum Brandy, and Troyan Herbal Brandy. Continue to Koprivshtitsa via the famed RoseValley. Lunch in a old Bulgarian house, followed by a tour of this romantic National Revival period museum –town. Late afternoon – drive to Sofia. Farewell  dinner with a folklore show. Overnight in a first class hotel in Sofia.
